Ahoy Comics Inks Distribution Deal with Diamond Book Distributors

Independent comics publisher Ahoy Comics has signed an exclusive agreement with Diamond Book Distributors to distribute its trade paperback graphic novels in the traditional bookstore market.

Founded last June in Syracuse, NY, Ahoy Comics and DBD will release its first slate of trade paperback collections beginning in May with its superhero parody The Wrong Earth Vol. 1 by writer Tom Peyer, penciller Jamal Igle, inker Juan Castro.

In June the house will release the trade paperback of its intergalactic space epic (starring cats) Captain Ginger Vol. 1 by writer Stuart Moore and June Brigman; and in July Ahoy will release a book collection of its religious satire High Heaven By writer Tom Peyer, artist Greg Scott, colorist Andy Troy and letterer Rob Steen. Covers by Richard Williams.

Ahoy Comics has also acquired the rights to Second Coming by writer Mark Russell and acclaimed artist Richard Pace,  a controversial religious satire (it features Jesus and a powerful superhero as roommates), Second Coming was originally slated to be published by Vertigo before it was cancelled. The Second Coming periodical series will begin in July and be distributed to the direct market by Diamond Comics Distributors, which will continue to distribute Ahoy Comics comic books to the comics shop market.

Ahoy Comics Publisher Hart Seely said, “We’re publishing a superhero parody, an intergalactic epic featuring cats, and not one but two thoughtful satires of contemporary religion. Our publishing line is diverse and eclectic and we’re looking forward to readers discovering these books in comic shops and bookstores this year.”
