Lefteri Receives Aspen Words Literary Prize

The Aspen Institute has announced that this year’s winner of the third annual Aspen Words Literary Prize is Christy Lefteri, the author of The Beekeeper of Aleppo, a novel about Syrian refugees in Great Britain. The Aspen Words Literary Prize honors fiction that illuminates a significant contemporary issue and comes with a $35,000 purse. Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, a live awards ceremony was canceled, but a virtual celebration that includes interviews with Lefteri and the four finalists is available on the Aspen institute/Aspen Words website.
