Canada Wants to Move Frankfurt Guest of Honor Program to 2021

Canada Heritage has asked the Frankfurt Book Fair to move Canada's Guest of Honor presentation from this year to 2021. Frankfurt recently announced it would significantly curtail activity at the fair as a result of the pandemic. At a recent press conference Juergen Boos, the director of the Fair, was asked specifically about Canada's guest of honor presentation and replied the country could have a "very strong virtual presentation." He suggested that Canadian authors who lived in Europe might also attend the fair in person. In March, CanadaFBM2020, the committee responsible for the presentation announced a slate of 53 authors and illustrators who would serve as a literary delegation to attend the fair.
