NEA Funds 84 Big Read Projects Across U.S.

The National Endowment for the Arts has funded 84 organizations across the U.S. to lead NEA Big Read community projects between September 2020 and June 2021. The projects funded are for both physical and digital events, and support community discussions and engagement with titles from the NEA's Big Read library. Twenty-five books from the NEA Big Read library were selected by grantees this year, including Hope Jahren’s Lab Girl, Madeline Miller’s Circe, and Luis Alberto Urrea’s Into the Beautiful North.

Each organization will receive a grant ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, with the total grants awarded coming to $1,157,000. Grants were given to groups in 34 states, as well as Puerto Rico. A full list of funded projects is online
