S&S to Publish New DeLillo

Simon & Schuster’s Scribner imprint has announced that it has acquired a new novel by Don DeLillo. The Silence, which DeLillo started writing in 2018 and is now set for October 20, follows five people who come together in Manhattan to watch the 2022 Super Bowl just as, the publisher said, “an unknown catastrophic event renders the digital world silent.” Scribner elaborated that the book features “echoes of the sudden, isolating effects of the Coronavirus” and “is a powerful work about what it means to be human.” Nan Graham, the multi award-winning author’s longtime editor, took North American rights to book from Robin Straus at the Robin Straus Agency.
