Dawn Durante Joins University of Texas Press

Dawn Durante has been named editor-in-chief of the University of Texas Press effective August 10. She is moving to the University of Texas from the University of Illinois Press, where she has served as a senior acquisitions editor since 2016.

According to a press release, her role will be "enriching and expanding” the publishing house's list of approximately 100 new titles each year across a range of subjects, from U.S. history and American studies, to Women’s Studies, and Black Studies.

"I am elated to be joining the University of Texas Press," said Durante. "It is a professional dream to be stepping into an editor in chief role, and I am fortunate to be doing so at a Press I admire for its dynamic staff, talented acquisitions team, and its high publishing standards."
