AWP Opens Event Submission Process to First-Time Organizers

The Association of Writers and Writing Programs announced yesterday that it has adapted its event proposal system for its 2021 annual conference, scheduled for March 3-6, 2021 in Kansas City. Depending upon the course of the pandemic during the coming months, #AWP21 either will be a hybrid conference, combining a smaller in-person gathering with virtual sessions, or else completely virtual. To encourage new voices from under-represented constituencies at the annual conference, beginning July 16 and continuing through August 5, AWP will accept event proposals from first-time organizers who have never proposed an event before, AWP also will offer a webinar on the event proposal system on YouTube on July 16 at 5 p.m.

#AWP20 events that were canceled or formally deferred at last spring’s gathering in San Antonio also are being added to the #AWP21 schedule.

More information about #AWP21 is available on AWP's website.
