New Canadian Indie Booksellers Association Established

A group of 12 booksellers has established the Canadian Independent Booksellers Association. The organization of the group was led by Doug Minett, former owner of The Bookshelf bookstore in Guelph, Ont., who retired in 2013. Association member Shelley Macbeth, owner of Blue Heron Books in Uxbridge, Ont., told the Quill and Quire the organization's platform was simple: to “advocate, educate, communicate.” Canada has been without a trade association since 2012 and discussions to form a new association have been taking place since 2018.
