Portal Books Launches Monolith Imprint

Portal Books, the independent genre fiction publisher launched in 2017, has launched a new science fiction/fantasy imprint, Monolith, which will publish a wide range of speculative fiction but is primarily targeted toward more traditional science fiction and epic fantasy. (Portal's books hinge on a subgenre called "LitRPG," or "Progression Fantasy," in which video game–style mechanics are incorporated into the plot.) Among early titles acquired by Monolith are Everwinter by Peter Hackshaw, Ascendant by Michael R. Miller, and an as yet unnamed trilogy by Damien Hine. The imprint has also purchased the rights to the entire Landkist Saga by Steven Kelliher, which spans seven novels, two of which are yet to be written; the deal in involves the reissue of the existing novels and the publication of brand-new audio book titles. Monolith is open to submissions.
