HCCP to Expand Bible Business with Brand Acquisition

In a continued effort to grow its Bible business, HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) acquired the Thompson® Chain-Reference Bible brand and will publish the product assets under its Zondervan subsidiary starting in May. Melinda Bouma, v-p and publisher of the Zondervan Bible Group, will lead the brand, which was purchased from Kirkbride Bible Company, Inc.

First published in 1908, the Thompson Chain-Reference Bible is a topical study Bible that has editions in five Bible translations: King James Version (KJV); New King James Version (NKJV); New International Version (NIV); New American Study Bible (NASB); and the English Standard Version (ESV). (Zondervan currently publishes Bibles in four of these translations.) The brand features "chain-links" of topics throughout the Bible. It includes over 100,000 references.
