Speculation Mounts About Possible Wattpad Sale

Toronto's Globe and Mail newspaper reports that Canadian social writing and reading platform Wattpad has been soliciting offers to be acquired since the fall, and is seeking as much as half a billion dollars for the company.

The article states that the company was approached last autumn by a U.S. internet company about a sale and that Allen Lau, co-founder of Wattpad, has invited potential bidders. The unnamed source for the speculation said the company is in "active talks" with "multiple parties," and might close a deal as early as this month.

In response to further queries from PW, Wattpad said, "We don't have any news to share."
