Mahogany Books to Open Second Location

Mahogany Books, a Black-owned bookstore in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington D.C., is opening a second location at National Harbor in Prince George's County, Md., a waterfront shipping district south of the capitol. The new store will open on the Juneteenth holiday, June 19.

“Growing up in Prince George’s County, this has become a full circle moment for me,” said Derrick Young, co-owner and co-founder of MahoganyBooks. “Opening on Juneteenth reminds us that we carry forward the rich history and legacy of our community.”

Mahogany Books first opened in 2007 as an online bookstore and opened its first bricks-and-mortar location in 2017.
