BISG Annual Meeting in April to Address Sustainability

The Book Industry Study Group's annual meeting of members will be held online on April 23 and will feature Sherri Aldis, chief of UN Publishing at the United Nations, as keynote speaker. The theme of the meeting is “Ensuring a Sustainable Future for the Book Business.”

Aldis will discuss the UN Sustainability Goals and how book publishers and partners can commit to specific actions to ensure that environmentally sound business practices are established and followed.

Brian O’Leary, executive director of BISG, said in a statement: “Sustainability may be the most critical topic for us today. from carbon footprints to the environment, to serving new audiences with accessible content, to being strategic about where we work, how we work, and who we work with.” O'Leary will appear on a panel with Noah Genner of BookNet Canada and Karina Urquhart of Book Industry Communications in the U.K.
