2021 Plutarch Award Finalists Announced

The finalists for the 2021 Plutarch Award finalists have been announced. The winner of this year's Plutarch Award, given by the Biographers International Organization to the previous calendar year's best biography, will be announced at the organization's virtual conference on May 16. The prize comes with a $1,000 honorarium.

The finalists are:

  • The Dead Are Arising: The Life of Malcolm X by Les Payne and Tamara Payne (Liveright)
  • His Very Best: Jimmy Carter: A Life by Jonathan Alter (S&S)
  • Lincoln on the Verge: Thirteen Days to Washington by Ted Widmer (S&S)
  • The Mystery of Charles Dickens by A.N. Wilson (Harper)
  • These Fevered Days: Ten Pivotal Moments in the Making of Emily Dickinson by Martha Ackmann (W.W. Norton)
