Bloomsbury Acquires Red Globe Press

Bloomsbury Publishing has signed an agreement to acquire assets from Red Globe Press, a division of Springer-owned Macmillan Education. The price was £3.7 million. Red Globe Press is an academic higher education publisher that has a backlist of 7,000 titles in the humanities and social sciences, business and management and study skills. Macmillan Education shed the assets to focus on its core K-12 English language learning products.

“Red Globe Press aligns well with our existing academic publishing and provides a gateway to new and attractive academic publishing areas," Nigel Newton, Chief Executive of Bloomsbury, said. "This move is another key step in the delivery of our strategic growth strategy and continues our drive to grow our non-consumer business. Acquiring these complementary lists accelerates our digital growth and our significant presence in humanities and social sciences academic publishing.”
