Samantha Schoech Is Leaving IBD

Samantha Schoech is leaving her position as program director of Independent Bookstore Day, effective at the end of May. Schoech was involved in the conception of the event, which began as California Bookstore Day, and has overseen the activities for the past eight years.

The American Booksellers Association took over management of the event in 2019 and hopes to grow the program even further. Courtney Wallace, who recently joined the ABA as marketing manager, will be the contact for publishers and bookstores. Wallace can be reached at courtneywallace@bookweb.org or IBD@bookweb.org.

“I have loved working on Bookstore Day, I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished for
bookstores, and I'm happy to be leaving the program in the ABA’s capable hands," Schoech said.
