Parul Sehgal to Leave the 'Times' for the 'New Yorker'

Parul Sehgal, New York Times book critic and a senior editor and columnist at the New York Times Book Review, will join the New Yorker as a staff writer in September. Sehgal, who joined the Times after stints at NPR and Publishers Weekly, where she was a reviews editor, was tapped for the book critic job at the Times in 2017 to replace longtime critic Michiko Kakutani. Sehgal won the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing from the National Book Critics Circle in 2010 and has written for, among others, the Atlantic, Slate, and the New Yorker
