Authors Guild Seeks Information on Scammers

The Authors Guild is asking for information involving a scam in which a group calling itself the Silver Ink Literary Agency requested book proposals from authors on behalf of the Authors Guild then took money for promised publication.

"The scam letters falsely state that the Authors Guild and leading publishers have formed a task force to solicit book proposals, with Silver Ink acting as an agent, and ask for contributions toward the service's cost," wrote the Authors Guild in an public letter. "Some authors have reported paying thousands of dollars to the scammers on the promise of publishing their books."

The Authors Guild is trying to help authors recoup the money they have paid scammers. If you or someone you know has paid Silver Ink Literary Agency for services, get in touch with the Authors Guild by sending an email to staff@authorsguild.org.
