Smith Joins Scribner as Lippel Retires

Roz Lippel, v-p and associate publisher at Simon & Schuster's Scribner imprint, will retire from the publisher in November, to be succeeded by Stu Smith at the end of this month.

Lippel joined Scribner in 1995, and would go on to work with authors including Anita Diamont, Edith Eger, and Stephen King. She also worked on the 2019 reissue of Joy of Cooking and helped secure Scribner's edition of The Great Gatsby after the title went into the public domain this year.

Smith will take over as associate publisher at Scribner at the end of this month, leaving his current role as national account manager and director of the sales division's Top Shelf program. He first began his publishing career at Simon & Schuster 15 years ago.
