John Williams Up at 'NYT' Books Desk

John Williams has been promoted from daily books editor on the New York Times Books desk to assistant editor. In his new role, Williams will edit and manage staff book critics and help to shape the desk's coverage of books going forward, both in daily reviews and on other collaborative projects. Williams will continue to write book reviews for the daily pages and to help oversee the Book Review Podcast. Williams joined the Times 10 years ago as a producer. Previously, he had launched the online book review the Second Pass, edited books at HarperCollins, and worked at the Dallas Morning News.
