Tim O'Connell Joins Simon & Schuster

Tim O’Connell is joining Simon & Schuster's flagship imprint as v-p and editorial director for fiction effective November 8. O'Connell will oversee the fiction program, supervise acquisitions, and build his own list of authors, which will include both fiction and select nonfiction writers. O’Connell comes to S&S from the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, where he worked for more than fifteen years. Among authors O'Connell worked with at KDPG are Omar El Akkad, Ted Chiang, Amitava Kumar, B.J. Novak, Vanessa Veselka, Nico Walker, and Charles Yu, who won the National Book Award for Fiction for the novel Interior Chinatown in 2020.
