HC UK Makes Acquisition

HarperCollins continues to expand, announcing that HC UK has reached an agreement to acquire the independent Pavilion Books Company. Under the purchase, which is set to close November 30, the Collins & Brown, Pavilion, Portico, Robson, National Trust, and Pavilion Children’s imprints will all move to HarperCollins. The Batsford and Pitkin imprints will be retained by owner and publisher Polly Powell as B.T. Batsford, which will remain as a standalone, privately-owned business.

On completion of the sale, Pavilion’s adult nonfiction publishing will move into the Mills & Boon division under executive publisher Lisa Milton as Pavilion. An exception is National Trust Publishing, which will go into Collins Learning, led by Collins Learning managing director, Alex Beecroft. The children’s list will be published by the Farshore imprint under executive publisher Cally Poplak.
