S&S Expands Distribution Capability

Simon & Schuster has started shipping titles for its distribution clients from a new warehouse in Jackson, Tenn. S&S is currently operating in a 400,000 sq. ft. facility, and expects to expand that warehouse to one million sq. ft. by the end of the year.

S&S also announced that titles from one of its newly-signed distribution clients, Callisto Media, will be shipped from Jackson when the new agreement goes into effect March 1, 2023.  S&S will continue to ship books from its Riverside and Milan Distribution Centers.

“The rapid growth of our client business in the last few years has exceeded our own initial expectations when we expanded our distribution capacity in Milan, Tennessee in 2019. With Tennessee as an ideal, geographically central location for shipping nationwide, we’re excited to open this new facility with greater capacity that matches our ambitions for growth in the distribution business,” S&S executive v-p, CFO, and COO Dennis Eulau said in a statement.

The announcement comes about a month after Manuel Sansigre, senior v-p and global head of mergers and acquisitions for Penguin Random House, testified during the Department of Justice’s trial to stop PRH from buying S&S that PRH would close two of S&S’s three warehouses, with plans to only operate the facility in Riverside, N.J.
