S&S Chief Marketing Officer Liz Perl to Retire

Liz Perl, executive v-p and chief marketing officer at Simon & Schuster, will retire on February 2. 

Perl first joined S&S in 2008 as senior v-p of marketing for the adult division. A year later, she expanded her purview to include all corporate marketing before being named to her current position in 2014.

Her responsibilities included all company-wide and cross-divisional marketing, as well as advertising, promotion, book club, retail, library, and educational marketing on behalf of all of S&S's U.S. adult, children's, and audio division. She also oversaw the operation of the company's domestic and international consumer and B2B digital properties; email and D2C marketing; social media platforms and marketing partnerships; and S&S's sales operations and client services group.

Prior to joining S&S, Perl was v-p and publisher of Rodale Books and Rodale international. She had also previously held various senior positions at Penguin Group. She began her career as a bookseller in New Orleans.
