Nominations Open for 2024 Hugo Awards

The World Science Fiction Society (WSFS) has announced that nominations are now open for the 2024 Hugo Awards, as well as the Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book and Astounding Award for Best New Writer. The nomination period will run through March 9.

This year's awards will be presented at the 2024 Worldcon, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland. More information about the Hugos, including instructions for submitting nominations, can be found here.

Controversy struck the Hugos last week after the release of the voting statistics behind the 2023 awards, in which several works—including R.F. Kuang's hit novel Babel—were inexplicably determined to be ineligible. The 2023 awards were announced at WSFS's 81st annual Worldcon in Chengdu, China, and speculation emerged that the opaque ineligibility rulings may have been a result of censorship.
