Amazon Books has named its Best Books of the Year So Far, with Percival Everett's novel James topping the list. “Rip-roaringly American, wry, and hard-hitting, Everett’s retelling of the classic Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a knockout,” said Amazon editor Al Woodworth in a statement.

The complete list is as follows:

  1. James by Percival Everett
  2. The Women by Kristin Hannah
  3. All the Worst Humans: How I Made News for Dictators, Tycoons, and Politicians by Phil Elwood

  5. Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar
  6. Nuclear War: A Scenario by Annie Jacobsen
