Doubleday to Publish Memoir by Margaret Atwood
Doubleday will publish Book of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts, a new work of nonfiction by two-time Booker Prize winner Margaret Atwood, on November 4. Book of Lives will be published simultaneously in Canada by McClelland & Stewart and in the U.K. by Chatto & Windus.
Bill Thomas, EVP, publisher, and editor-in-chief of Doubleday, acquired U.S. rights from Karolina Sutton at CAA, and Doubleday VP and executive editor Lee Boudreaux will edit. The memoir will be published in hardcover and as an ebook, and in audio by Penguin Random House. An announced first printing of 350,000 copies has been set.
Per a release, Book of Lives will explore Atwood's life and work, "from her peripatetic childhood in the Canadian far north, through the writing of The Handmaid's Tale, to her position today as revered truth-teller and literary icon."
