Pluto to Publish Francesca Albanese’s Reports on Palestine
Pluto Press will publish a new book of reports by Francesca Albanese, special rapporteur for Palestinian Human Rights, titled A Moon Will Rise from the Darkness: Reports on Israel’s Genocide in Palestine. World rights were acquired by Pluto’s commissioning editor David Shulman from the volume’s co-editors Mandy Turner and Lex Takkenberg. The volume is slated to publish on October 8.
A Moon Will Rise from the Darkness compiles Albanese’s reports on Israeli conduct in Palestine since October 2023. The volume also features a new introduction by Albanese; a foreword by her predecessors Richard Falk, John Dugard, and Michael Lynk recounting their experiences as UN special rapporteurs; and a preface by Takkenberg, a 30-year veteran of UNRWA, co-authored with Turner.
“Pluto has over 100 books documenting the situation in Palestine published over the last five decades,” Veruschka Selbach, managing director of Pluto Press, said. “Now, more than ever, it is vital to foreground the facts about what is really happening. Albanese’s reports make harrowing, but vital, reading.”
