Cardinal to Publish New Novel by Min Jin Lee
Ben Sevier at Grand Central Publishing landed North American and audio rights to American Hagwon by Min Jin Lee from Peter Straus at RCW. The novel will be published by GCP imprint Cardinal, with Cardinal publisher Reagan Arthur to edit. Release is set for September 29.
The publisher called American Hagwon the third book (after Free Food for Millionaires and Pachinko) "in what will form a diaspora quartet."
The book follows the Koh family from the early 1990s to the mid 2000s as they "travel through the decades, nurturing the almost all-consuming faith that education will lead the next generation to lasting success and security," per the publisher.
4th Estate, an imprint of HarperCollins UK, acquired British Commonwealth and audio rights, excluding Canada, and will publish simultaneously.
