IMLS Announces Grant Funding to ‘Combat Antisemitism’
The Institute of Museum and Library Services announced on January 27 that it would award a total of $2,746,932 in discretionary federal grant funding to four libraries and museums with projects focused on antisemitism and “countering hate,” per a press statement. IMLS said it “joins the public in solemn commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.”
The grant awardees include the Florida Holocaust Museum, home to archives of Night author Elie Wiesel and the Holocaust Documentation and Education Center, also in Florida, for K–12 educational outreach.
The recognition on Holocaust Remembrance Day is in contrast with last January, when the U.S. Department of Defense removed references to the day from national calendars in response to the Trump administration’s ban on DEI programs in the federal workplace. In its statement, the IMLS said the grants were made in accordance with Trump’s 2019 and 2025 executive orders on combatting antisemitism.
