Collective Book Studio Starts Children’s Imprint

Rebekah Lovato Piatte has joined California indie publisher Collective Book Studio as children’s editorial director. In the newly created role, she will oversee Tiny Torch Books, a new imprint aimed at readers ages up to 8 that will launch this summer with a list of picture and board books.

Piatte—who previously worked at Klutz Press and Insight editions, and has freelanced for Scholastic and Kiwi Co.—will spearhead the acquisition and development of new children’s titles and work closely with associate publisher Elisabeth Saake, per an announcement.

In a statement, Collective Book Studio owner and publisher Angela Engel said the move to launch a dedicated imprint was motivated by the recent growth of the publisher’s children’s list.
