Dutton Snags John Green’s Adult Fiction Debut

Dutton, an imprint of Penguin Random House, has announced that it will publish John Green’s Hollywood, Ending on September 22. Julie Strauss-Gabel, president and publisher of Dutton Children’s Books, acquired global rights to the title from Jodi Reamer at Writers House.

Hollywood, Ending is Green’s adult debut, as well as his first new novel in nearly 10 years. According to the publisher, the book follows the “rise of two young actors” recently cast in the “buzzy biopic Andy Warhol Never Gets Old.” Amid the movie “blowing up,” the actors must “confront the private cost of a public life,” all while “maybe even falling in love.”

“I’ve spent the last eight years finding my way through this story, and I am so excited to share Hollywood, Ending with the world,” Green said in a statement. “It's a book about navigating love and loss all while participating in the strange, complicated exchanges of attention and trauma of the social internet that has become something no longer reserved for movie stars alone.”

Hollywood, Ending will be released simultaneously by PRH UK.
