White Cat Taps Rylend Grant as Head of IP Development
White Cat Entertainment has tapped Rylend Grant to lead its new creative solutions division as head of IP development.
In his new role, Grant will expand the adaptation and development capabilities at the studio, which was founded in 2020 by Chris Mancini. Key properties with which Grant will work include Long Ago and Far Away, a fantasy-comedy with franchise and animation potential; Rise of the Kung Fu Dragon Master, an action-comedy suited for film and series adaptation; and Alpha Cat, an all-ages sci-fi adventure primed for publishing, animation, and licensing expansion.
“The bold and innovative work Chris Mancini and company have been doing for years in the print, comics, and podcasting spaces will translate beautifully onto screens of all shapes and sizes,” Grant said in a statement. “Hollywood is thirsty for fun, challenging, and thought-provoking content.”
Grant joins White Cat from Shoshin Creative Lab, where he will maintain his role as managing partner. At Shoshin, he has developed projects for such companies as Amazon, Hulu, HBO Max, LEGO, and Funny or Die. He has also collaborated with creatives like J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin.
