Blue Rider Press to Publish Memoir by James Foley’s Mother

Diane Foley, mother of slain American journalist James Foley, is publishing a memoir about her son’s life for Blue Rider Press, an imprint of Penguin Group USA. World English language rights for the untitled book were acquired by senior editor Becky Cole from Stuart Krichevsky and David Patterson of Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency, Inc. The book is slated for publication in early 2017.

James Foley, a freelance journalist who was abducted in Syria in 2012, was the first American to be publicly executed at the hands of ISIS in August 2014. The book will cover Foley’s life as well as the behind-the-scenes drama that the Foley family deal with during his captivity. According to a press release, the memoir will also detail “a family whose abiding faith in God gave them the strength to carry on through the darkest moments.”
