Knopf to Publish Book by Nancy Jo Sales

Knopf is releasing journalist Nancy Jo Sales' book about social media and its influence on the lives of today's youth on February 23. The book, American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers, is based on 30 months of reporting by Sales. An initial printing of 150,000 copies was announced, and it will also be available as an e-book and from Random House Audio. First serial rights have been sold to Time Magazine.

Described as a disturbing and shocking narrative, American Girls covers what teenagers are doing online and how it impacts their lives, according to a press release. The book looks specifically at how the Internet affects teen girls in terms of self-esteem and identity.
