W Group to Publish 'We Are Charleston' in June
We Are Charleston, a book on the shooting at South Carolina's Mother Emanuel Church last summer, will be released on June 14 through the W Publishing Group, an imprint of Thomas Nelson.
Compiled by three South Carolina writers, the book features interviews and commentary from people who knew the nine church members slain at a prayer meeting on June 17, 2015. We Are Charleston also details the history of the Mother Emanuel Church as well as the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) denomination.
Authors of We Are Charleston include Herb Frazier, a journalist and childhood member of Mother Emanuel; Dr. Bernard Edward Powers, A.M.E. Church member and professor of history at the College of Charleston; and Majory Wentworth, South Carolina’s Poet Laureate.
