For a rumored high six figures, Broadway Books senior editor Lauren Marino has acquired world rights for the next book by Dr. Paul Pearsall, author of the The Pleasure Prescription, a sleeper hit for Hunter House, which set a 10,000 first printing for this stress reducing (or more accurately joy adding) guide, only to see it go on to sell more than 200,000 copies.

In the new book Pearsall, a psychoneuroimmunologist, Fitness columnist and a seven-time "Oprah" guest who recently battled bone marrow cancer himself, will explore the emerging field of cellular memory, in which transplant patients feel emotions or connections to a donor. Marino told PW that the book, tentatively titled Psychology of the Heart, will pub next spring. Hunter House publisher Kiran Rana told PW that while he's disappointed he had to drop out early in the auction conducted by agent Jane Dystel, he is planning to do some other Pleasure Prescription tie-in books soon and is looking forward to the March 11 and 18 re-airing of a December 11 "Montel Williams" show, which was dedicated to, and vastly increased sales for, The Pleasure Prescription.
