Solti Memoir from Knopf
Judy Quinn -- 9/15/97
It's been a grim couple of weeks, what with the deaths of Princess Diana and Mother Theresa. Esteemed conductor Sir Georg Solti, who held the post of director of the Chicago Symphony from 1969 to 1991, also died on September 5 and his Memoirs, which had been in the works from Knopf, will still be published on October 21, on what would have been his 85th birthday. Solti had finished final galley corrections shortly before his death and the Solti family now will add a brief afterword. Knopf senior editor Jonathan Segal had planned an author book tour, but no alternative publicity plans had been made at press time.
