BookExpo America Changes Date of Los Angeles Show

BookExpo America has announced that the 1999 Los Angeles tradeshow will be held May 1-3, not May 14-17, as was previouslyannounced. In a letter sent to publishers on October 13, CourtneyMuller, industry v-p for BookExpo, explained: "We have workedhard to make Los Angeles a reality in '99. The truth is that thishas been difficult given the timing. Convention space is at apremium, and we have had to move quickly to make this change. Wemade it clear to the Los Angeles Convention Center from theoutset that we would only accept weekend dates beginning May 1and extending no later than May 15. While May 15 at first seemedmanageable for all parties involved, the Los Angeles ConventionCenter has now informed us that May 1 is the only availabledate."
