Grisham Plagiarism Suit Dismissed

A plagiarism suit filed in early 1995 against bestselling author John Grisham, regarding his 1994 novel,The Chamber, has been dismissed. In 1996, calling the suit "meritless," U.S. judge Royce Lamberth dismissed claims by lawyer and author Polly Nelson about similarities between her book Defending the Devil: My Story as Ted Bundy's Last Lawyer and Grisham's The Chamber. A year later, the U.S. State Court of Appeals also unanimously dismissed Nelson's appeal, noting that it "d s not warrant an opinion." The court awarded BDD and Grisham attorneys' fees.
