Hot Deals: Jim Cameron to Mars?

Agent Ralph Vicinanza has confirmed to PW that Titanic director James Cameron did indeed recently option Kim Stanley Robinson's bestselling and Hugo- and Nebula Award-winning Mars trilogy, Red Mars, Green Mars and Blue Mars, through his Lightstorm Entertainment production company. Rumor has it that Cameron might develop the series for TV. The deal might provide some solace to the series' publisher, Bantam, which walked away from the high-priced bidding to acquire the next Star Trek tie-in books, which were eventually won by Ballantine.
