NBF G s Online; Call for '98 Entries
Calvin Reid -- 6/29/98
The National Book Foundation, the independent sponsoring organization for the National Book Awards, has announced a partnership with BookWire, a book industry Website, to launch a site to promote the awards and the NBF's literary and community outreach programs.
The new site will be accessible at http://www.nationalbook.org and through BookWire. Neil Baldwin, executive director of the National Book Foundation, said the site would draw readers and authors closer together.

Among other features, the site offers an online writers-in-residence program; an online reading circle project called Windows on the Writing Life; author speeches from NBF events; and, in the weeks leading to the National Book Awards in November, the site will also offer readers' commentary and highlight the nominated books and writers. Providing support for the site are the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund, the Book-of-the-Month Club and Random House, Inc.

In addition, entries for the 1998 National Book Awards can still be made. Requests for entry forms should be faxed to the National Book Foundation at (212) 213-6570. The deadline for submitting an entry is July 13.
