Dearborn Acquired By Washington Post

Kaplan Educational Centers, a subsidiary of the Washington Post Co., has agreed to acquire Dearborn Publishing Group. No purchase price was disclosed, although the Post Co. said that the Dearborn acquisition, coupled with its purchase of Perfect Access Inc., will amount to $60 million.
After the deal is completed, Robert Kyle, founder and chairman of Dearborn, will step down, while Dennis Blitz will remain president. In addition to publishing approximately 100 new titles a year in the business and professional training areas, Dearborn conducts training and continuing education classes in over 40 locations. Its publishing imprints include Real Estate Education Company and Upstart Publishing.
