Fellows Sought for Jerusalem Fair
-- 8/3/98
For the eighth time in a row, talented young book editors in the U.S. and Europe will be offered fellowships to attend the biennial Jerusalem International Book Fair, to be held next year later than usual, June 20-25, 1999.
The program will be sponsored for the fourth time by the Von Holtzbrinck publishing group, and is open to editors who have been working in publishing for between six to 15 years. The fellowships provide room and board for seven nights at the fair, and ensure that the fellows attend all major fair events. Their publishers are expected to provide airfare.

The program for the fellows begins two days before the fair, on June 18, offering a series of seminars in which they meet Israeli and other international agents, editors and authors.

Nominations should be made to: Michal Meryn, Jerusalem International Book Fair, c/o Consulate General of Israel, Dept. of Culture, 800 Second Ave., New York, N.Y. 10017; (212) 744-2818, fax (212) 734-9727. Application kits can also be obtained from her. Nominations, which must be accompanied by letters of recommendation, can be accepted until October 28.

Since the program's beginning in 1985, 150 young editors have been chosen, at least a third of them from the U.S.
