Random House and Discovery Channel Launch Imprint
Steven M. Zeitchik -- 9/7/98
Random House and the Discovery Channel have formed an imprint, to be called Discovery Channel Books, that will become part of RH's information group.
According to the companies, the station will create the nonfiction titles, while Random House will handle production, sales and subsidiary rights. Books will fall into the nature, science, exploration, adventure and how-to subject areas.

The imprint's first title, due out next March, will be Cleopatra's Palace, about the discovery and exploration of the dwelling's underwater domain and will be released in conjunction with the station's special on the subject. Approximately eight to 10 titles are scheduled for the imprint next year, with the count rising to 15 to 20 in 2000. The list will feature a mix of illustrated hardcovers and trade paperbacks.
