This week, Jon Krakauer's Into the Wild hits 53 weeks on PW's trade paper list. A pioneer in the re-invention of the outdoor-adventure narrative as a bestselling genre, Into the Wild was published as an Anchor paperback in January 1997, with a 75,000-copy first printing; now, after 28 trips to press, the in-print figure is 785,000.
