Noodle Kidoodle Trims Losses as Sales Rise

Noodle Kidoodle reported that sales for the second quarter ended August 1, 1998, rose 36%, to $18.4 million. The net loss for the quarter was cut to $1.5 million from $2.7 million in the comparable period in fiscal 1998.
The company attributed the gain to a 25% increase in same-store sales as well as the opening of new outlets. Through the end of August, Noodle Kidoodle had opened six new stores and expects to open a total of nine outlets in the full year. The company currently operates 38 stores.

For the six-month period, sales rose 25%, to $36.5 million, and the net loss was reduced to $2.6 million from $4.7 million.
