PW's starred boxed review of Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisonwood Bible noted that the accomplished author "moves into new moral terrain in this powerful, convincing and emotionally resonant novel." And considering that she is the only author whose work has been nominated three times for an ABBY Award (the book booksellers most enjoy handselling), it should come as no surprise that she heads the bestseller lists at many independent retailers across the country. Her cross-country author tour, which ends on November 6, has mostly stops at independent bookstores. HarperFlamingo's first printing for Kingsolver's newest fiction (her most recent novel, Pigs in Heaven, was published in 1993) is 225,000 copies.
