Richard Jackson, editor of his own line of books at DK Ink, will be moving his imprint to Simon & Schuster, as an imprint of Atheneum Books for Young Readers, effective September 1. He will report to Brenda Bowen, v-p and publisher of S&S Books for Young Readers.

Jackson co-founded Bradbury Press in 1968, and moved to Macmillan in 1982 when Macmillan bought Bradbury (Macmillan was subsequently bought by S&S the following year). In 1986, he launched an imprint, Richard Jackson Books, at Orchard, and moved his imprint to DK in 1996.

"This opportunity [to move to S&S] really appealed to me for its symmetry," Jackson said. "About the point at which I might be ending my career, I have the opportunity to revisit my youth and be reunited with the Bradbury backlist." As Jackson's former books from the Bradbury list reprint they will be published as Richard Jackson Books.

During his career, Jackson has edited two Newbery winners, 10 Newbery Honor Books, one Caldecott winner and four Caldecott Honor Books. The authors and illustrators he has worked with include Avi, Judy Blume, Paula Fox, Virginia Hamilton, Gary Paulsen, Dav Pilkey, Chris Raschka and Cynthia Rylant.
