Citing the fast-growing market for multi-ethnic educational materials, Scholastic named Anne Kenney, formerly Scholastic's director of staffing, as director, multicultural marketing.

Richard Robinson, CEO of Scholastic, told PW the position was created to address the changing demographics of the educational marketplace and underscored Scholastic's commitment "to meet the needs of all children for improved learning in schools and at home."

Kenney said, "Children need to see themselves and their cultures reflected positively in the materials they read every day in school and at home. I want to make sure that we continue to enrich our ability to reflect these distinct experiences." Before she directed staffing, Kenney was also Scholastic's director of diversity and before that was publisher of Scholastic Early Childhood Today magazine.
